The Virgin of the Rule fiesta celebrates the Cebuanos’ deep religious faith. Held from November 20-21 in Opon town and Lapu-Lapu City, this social and religious event is a showcase of the best that Cebuanos have to offer, including food fairs, a procession with all the pomp and circumstance expected of the Filipino, and a coronation of a Fiesta Queen.

Every year, a fluvial parade is held in Mactan in honor of the Virgin of the Rule (Nuestra Senora Virgen dela Regla). This has been the tradition of the people of Opon, also known as Lapu-Lapu City. The image of the Nuestra Senora will tour around Mactan island on board a yacht.

This is a great occasion not only for procession and parades and food fairs but also to celebrate the coronation of the Queen. This is one of the reasons why many tourists go to Cebu; to witness this grand feast and the significance of the celebration.
