Getting There
Lucap or Alaminos Wharf, the entrance to the National Park, is about 240 kilometres (150 mi) north from the Kilometer Zero marker in Rizal Park in Manila or about 3.75 hours drive by private vehicle.By public transportation from Manila, the bus ride takes about 5 to 6 hours.
The Hundred Islands is Pangasinan’s best-known attraction. It is located near the city of Alaminos City in the Province of Pangasinan. The One Hundred Islands is considered by many to be one of the seven natural wonders of the World. Because of its special characteristics, scientific importance, uniqueness and high scenic value, the national committee on geographical sciences declared the hundred islands of Pangasinan as a national geological monument last Sept. 2001.
Hundred Islands is composed of 3 developed islands naming Children Island, Governor’s Island, and Quezon Island for scientific study and tourism. Tourism is an increasingly significant part of the local economy and great efforts are made to balance the desires of visitors with maintaining a pristine and bountiful habitat for the One hundred Islands National Park’s flora, fauna and marine life. The islands were shaped from uplifted coral deposits by the erosional action of rainwater and groundwater. These islands clustered in the Lingayen Gulf northeast of Alaminos consists of 123 hills of different sizes.
To get there, take a bus from Manila to Alaminos, Pangasinan for about five hours. From Alaminos take a tricycle ride to Barangay Lucap. And upon arrival, savor the city’s unique and dynamic spirit, friendly atmosphere and especially, the beauty and adventure that lies in the hundred wonders that is Hundred Islands.
